The Evolution of Makeup [infographic]

Hi Everyone,

I found this really interesting infographic on Daily Inforgraphic and thought I’d share it with you all!

Until next time, have fun :)

August Favourites

Hi everyone! :) It’s that time again! What happened to the lovely weather I mentioned at the beginning of the month? :( It’s been a bit of a wash out after all. I promise not to jinx it in the future!

The Body Shop Define & Lengthen Mascara

My first favourite for this month is The Body Shop Define & Lengthen Mascara. I received this free with a magazine and as I’d run out of my usual mascara I thought I’d give it a go and I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised! It really lengthens my lashes and is really buildable without looking clumpy or flaky. I normally don’t stray from mascaras I don’t know but with a full size sample I’m glad I took the chance on it.

Nikon D3100 DSLR Camera

My next favourite of the month (and my new baby!) is the Nikon D3100. I’ve been wanting to get a DSLR for many years now since I did a photography module in University and I FINALLY took the plunge. I was a little scared at first and its all new and shiny but I totally love it. So far I only have the original lens that comes with it but I hope to get a zoom lens and maybe a macro one soon. If you’re interested I’ve put some of the pictures I’ve taken on my Flickr page. The very first event I was able to take photos of was my friends Victorian Summer Ball; you can see those pictures here! :)

Urban Decay 15th Anniversary Eyeshadow Palette

This has to be the prettiest palette I own atm (although it’s not easy to tell by this picture) the edge of the palette has a gorgeous lace pattern and on the inside on the lid there is a hugggge mirror! The colours are 15 never before seen Urban Decay shades and they are exactly what I expect from UD eyeshadows – creamy soft gorgeousness! Also when you’ve done with the eyeshadows you can remove them and use it as a cute box! :D

Vichy Dermablend Corrective Foundation

This foundation is a god send when I have breakouts, (which I have lately :() I first discovered it on Lisa Eldridge’s YouTube video about covering acne which you can check out here (its amazing!). This foundation is so pigmented it’ll cover up any bad spots and won’t break you out more. Lisa’s key to flawless skin was to use a light base on the whole face and to use this foundation on the problem areas. The only problem I found is there is a massive jump in colour from shade 15 to 20, so if my skin is more tanned I only use the tiniest amount of shade 20 to mix, otherwise its way to dark!

M.A.C Mineralize Eyeshadow in Jade’s Fortune

And last but not least is the M.A.C Mineralize Eyeshadow in Jade’s Fortune, this eyeshadow was part of the Semi Precious Collection 2011. I think it’s really gorgeous; it’s much more of a sheer pearled shimmer with mixture of Yellow, Blue, Lime & Black and is amazing when used in a smoky eye look.

So that’s it for this month, on to September and the Autumn!

Until next time, have fun! :D

Full Speed Ahead!

Hi Everyone!

This weekend I popped into London with Jan and saw THRILLER live and it was EPIC. Lots of people sitting in the audience with MJ hats and white gloves. My hands hurt so much afterwards from clapping! If you love music and fancy a trip to the theatre then this is the show for you.

As we were so close to the M.A.C. pro store we popped in for a look. I was super happy to realise that as a pro store they had the new Styledriven collection in already (out in stores tomorrow in the UK I believe, but online now!) and I was instantly drawn to Full Speed Ahead – a bright pink-magenta lipglass.

I needed this in my life, I was instantly smitten. The whole collection boasts long wear and a new brush for the lipglasses that hug your lips as you apply.

Long-lasting Lip Pencil and Lipglass with six extended hours of lasting shine, along with a creamy new Eye Shadow…experience future-forward Pro Longwear technology – M.A.C. UK Website

I can’t put my finger on the smell yet, it’s not their normal vanilla scent but it is sweet (if you know then let me know the comments please!) and the formula is a bit…gloopy but not in a really bad way. It’s not sticky (yay!) but incredibly glossy; when I saw the girl in the store wearing it I definitely heard it calling out my name!

I may find myself revisiting my local M.A.C. store and picking up the lip pencil to match…!

Until next time, have fun! :)

FOTD: Spring Petal

Hi Everyone! :) Today I wanted to try something a little different, although I’m a little nervous about it!

I’ve seen other people posting Face Of The Day (FOTD) so I finally thought heck why not? I love make-up as much as I love nail polish and nail art as there are lots of styles and designs you can try out playing with colour and more.

Base:

  • M.A.C Studio Fix Fluid in NW15
  • Vichy Dermablend Corrective Foundation SPF 20 in Opal 15 (for imperfections)
  • M.A.C prep+prime transparent finishing powder

Cheeks:

  • Benefit Posietint
  • Benefit Bella bamba

Brows:

  • Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil in Hazel

Eyes:

  • Urban Decay Primer Potion (original)
  • Purple shade from the Glam Rocks Eye Palette
  • M.A.C eyeshadow in Vibrant Grape
  • M.A.C eyeshadow in Noir Plum
  • M.A.C eyeshadow in Juxt
  • M.A.C Zoom Lash Mascara in Black

Lips:

  • M.A.C lipstick in Love Lorn
  • Clinique Long Last Glosswear SPF 15 in Air Kiss

I super struggled with not picking up my black liquid eyeliner, I’m totally addicted to it and wear it everyday~! But as its finally spring I wanted to try a lighter look. My brows are super light (like almost blonde) so I often fill them in although this shade is a little too light and the shade darker is a little too dark! When i’m feeling a little lazy or I don’t have a lot of time i’ll use a pencil (like today!) instead of my Benefit Browzing.

Let me know what your favourite spring colours are to wear! :D I’d also love to see your Spring FOTDs!

Until next time! :)

Unii Palette

I’d been watching a few videos online about palettes regarding the ease and convenience of having one and finally took the plunge by picking up the Unii Palette. You can see a review for the Unii Palette verses the Mac Pro & Z Palette here.

“The UNII palette magnetically stores multiple brands of makeup pans, including Mac, Stila, Bobbi Brown and more! Now, all your favorite  brands can be stored neatly in the UNII Palette. Say goodbye to makeup clutter!”

The benefits to owning a palette is that you can buy pan refills for some of your favourite brands (MAC, Bobbi Brown, Stila, Laura Mercier, Mary Kay and more sell refills and often for a few pounds cheaper) or you can “depot” some of your existing collection to save space!

I picked up Pomegranate (pinky) and later ordered Snow (white) as I had a feeling while I was depotting my pans in advance that i’d quickly fill my first one up!

Here I have a collection of Clinique, No7 and Lancome eyeshadows and blush. I had a travel palette from Lancome that I never end up using and has been hiding in a drawer forever, so I decided to depot the blush and eyeshadows so I will actually use them!

If you are thinking about picking up a palette and want to know how you can depot your eyeshadows, then check out this very handy video below:

Ombre Magnetique Ultra-Lavande

Hi peeps! I picked up the Ombre Magnetique in Ultra-Lavande but hadn’t actually gotten around to swatching (or wearing) until now!

Ultra Lavande is a gorgeous purple with pearl-shimmer and glitter. These eye shadows are long wearing and crease resistant.

I popped into town for lunch and was asked by two people what I was wearing on my eyes. The colour is vibrant and the glitter is subtle but looks amazing in the light which really adds dimension. This colour also makes green eyes pop!

It will be a real shame if this colour disappears when the Spring season is over. Would I repurchase? Definitely.
