    1. Exactly sixty-five years after his death, Walt Disney, having been suspended in cryogenic suspension thus far, finally wakes up and realizes right away that he has a lot of catching up to do!Beneath the facade of arrogance and impatience, that he was (in)famous for, the passion and determination that he was undoubtedly famous for slowly surfaces.Set in the not-so-distant future (2031), this is a short story that the author originally wrote for her own children, primarily to give them a better id [...]

    2. "Pooh made people understand that while there is only one future, there will always be many paths on its unending journey."Fantasia is a short story that's both full of humour and charm, and didactic. It grabbed my interested with the summary but in the end, the story turned out to be much more. It's 2031 and Walt Disney is brought back to life after being in cryogenic suspension for over 60 years. But apart from his story, or maybe I should say in between, the author placed a very important mess [...]

    3. "Do you want to try?" I said. "It looks like a tiara," said Walt, grimacing. "I can't wear that. I'll look like Cinderella." "Walt, there's absolutely no chance you'll look like Cinderella. You're a hundered and thirty year old man with a moustache." "Point taken," said Walt. "I'll just look like a jerk then." This was such a cute and amusing short story. Its message is a powerful one and made me weep on the train while I was reading it, thanks author!I kindly received this book from its publish [...]

    4. *This book was provided to me for free via Netgalley*This is a cute little short story. First I have to say I love that cover is so attracting, and then its about Walt Disney, I was sold. Walt Disney has been waken up after 65 years of been in a cryogenic suspension since 1966. Walt is a little bit disoriented but he is also very arrogant and demanding. I have to start by saying that I love everything Disney related, it has been a great part of my childhood and adulthood. When I first read this [...]

    5. Combining serious issues with a light and accessible style, Turley creates a novelette that is suitable for children without seeming too superficial for adults. In 2031, the human race is on the verge of interstellar travel. As part of his research into the neurological impact of cryonic suspension during space flight, Dr Corey revives Walt Disney. The process works, but Disney is anything but a compliant subject. As Corey’s attempts to trade privileges for test data turn into an odd friendship [...]

    6. I kindly received this book from its publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This is a cute little short story. 7. This book is a short story containing 5,000 words. Fascinating plot combining the iconic character of Walt Disney with the subjects of cryogenic suspension and climate change. I would not recommend the book for young children, but children age nine and older will certainly enjoy it and have plenty of questions to ask after reading it.At the outset we meet a doctor and his patient, Walt Disney, who has just emerged from a sixty-five year cryogenic suspension. The year is 2031; Disney awakes both [...]

    8. At only 23 pages long, Fantasia is a quick and pleasurable read. Disney is portrayed as a bit of a stubborn curmudgeon that the reader swiftly develops a bit of affection for. I think the author nailed the look at the world through the eyes of someone who hadn't seen all the problems - specifically with climate change and conservation of resources - bearing down on our world full bore.I would warn readers that even though this is a book about Disney, this is not a Disney book. Therefore, I would [...]

    9. 'Fantasia' by Jane Turley is a short story taking place in the not too distant future where Walt Disney is revived from his cryogenic suspension. He wakes to find a world changed by global warming. In the year 2031, Walt Disney is brought back. He immediately wants to know how the Winnie The Pooh movie did at the box office (which results in jokes about poo). He also learns about how life is now on Earth. There are amazing breakthroughs in movies, but the Earth is also suffering because of climat [...]

    10. This is a short story originally included in the 'A Modern Life' collection by this author but has now been released as a standalone. Set in 2031 (don't worry if you aren't keen on futuristic stories) the famous Walt Disney is bought back from suspension uttering his first words 'How's my Pooh' this sets the scene for Jane's humour that & the fabulous purpley cover sold me lol From here we relive some of Walt's history but it also sees him try to come to terms with the modern world & te [...]

    11. I grew up with the (untrue) story that Walt Disney had been cryonically frozen so that he could come back again in the future once scientists knew how to bring bodies back to life. I'd forgotten all about this until I read Fantasia and what a lovely idea this futuristic tale is.Fantasia is set in 2031, close enough to be real yet far enough away for us to wonder which parts could be true, and Walt Disney wakes up from his frozen hibernation feeling well with a slightly rusty voice. He learns of [...]

    12. A nice short story, with some really unexpectedly funny moments. A very assertive, authoritative and stubborn Walt Disney is brought back to life after years of cryogenic suspension (according to the long-standing urban legend that Disney corpse was frozen and stored in the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction), and catches up to date with the year 2031.In the foreword, the author presents it as a cautionary tale for global warning. I think it could have explore this a little deeper, and it feels [...]

    13. This is a quick, fun, read. In Fantasia, we meet Walt Disney shortly after he is waking from his cryogenic sleep. We follow him as he catches up on all the films from his company, as well as other films, shows, and news from the past 60 years. Although I felt the story was a little rushed, I still really enjoyed it and would share it with younger readers as well as seasoned ones. I received an ARC of this short story via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

    14. I saw this little book by accident at the Buckingham Literary Festival. The title doesn’t convey that inside is a captivating short story suitable for 10-13 year olds. It is particularly useful for teachers who want to spark an interest in scientific/environmental/ethical issues. Walt is brought back to this life and, with some irritation, he experiences the features of everyday life some decades after dying.Well-written, and sympathetically so.

    15. This was quite an easy and fun read. It can be easily read by a wide range of age groups, the story is good and it does make you think about the future. I loved the way that the author has portrayed Walt Disney, from what I have read about him in other works its quite a true portrayal! It was a fun way to pass a couple of hours and I'd definitely be happy to read other books by this author. I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

    16. Unusual book but enjoyable quick read on way to work this morning. Wouldn't it be great if Walt could come back to life!Story is very apt at the moment with all the flooding going on in the world due to climate change.Great for children and adult Disney fanatics!

    17. This was based on hearsay about the late Walt Disney, but an interesting concept if it may have occurred. Very whimsical and sad in some parts, but I actually would like to see this expand into a novel as it was a short story.

    18. Love actuallyI loved this short story inside the workings of Walt Disney the greatest cartoonist that the world will ever know.

    19. I wanted more. Yes, I know it's a short story but still. The premise was so intriguing that I really felt it could have been developed a bit more and still stay in that "short story" range.
