    1. Intriguing at a first glance, but I still found Shift to be rather pretentious much of the time, which was very annoying.

    2. I won this book as part of a giveaway. This a debut novel from a very young author. The premise for this novel is exciting. The main character has great potential to be the basis for a series of books around her adventures and life. The timing of the novel was off pace and huge passages of time were incorporated into the book where the story line could have proceeded over a much shorter time frame.Some of the scenes needed more detail ( particularly the battle scenes to build more tension).     3. An excellent debut novel. A typical 'outsider,' the main character is nonetheless interesting, and this book stays well away from the clichés of YA romance. It is fresh, full of unique personality, and the prose is light and easy to read. I would recommend for younger teenagers.
