    1. This is a very comprehensive account of Swedish history. Scott uses a methodical approach, covering in succession the political, economic, and cultural history of a particular era before moving on to the next. This gives the book more of an academic/textbook feel, so if you're looking for a quick, light overview, this certainly isn't it. While I enjoyed getting the full picture, I have to admit that even as someone who enjoys some fairly dense historical reading, this was a slog to get through. [...]
