    1. Brownie and Pearl are ready to hit the hay. First they have a snack and brush their teeth. Next they pull on pajamas. (Well, Brownie pulls on pajamas.) Then they both snuggle into bed for a story--a story starring a cat, of course--until it's time for lights out. Sleep tight, little ones!

    2. This is another fun book in the Brownie & Pearl series of beginning reader books by Cynthia Rylant and Brian Biggs. They are colorful, with simple narratives and our youngest loves them! I read it aloud to our girls and later our youngest read it aloud to us. We liked this story, but our girls were quick to point out that they do not get a bedtime snack like Brownie and Pearl. I reminded them that they often get dessert after dinner and that once they've brushed their teeth (which this book [...]

    3. Yes, these are thin stories, but their simple texts about every day life and their bold, clear, friendly illustrations make these rare, perfect books for ones and twos. No, she doesn't have a healthy snack. No, she doesn't brush her teeth. No, "hit the hay" remains unexplained as an idiom. No, there are no grown-ups in the bathroom while she's in the tub. No, cats should not eat chocolate chip cookies. You know what? None of that bothers me. I am sold on ""Pearl does not need jammies. She is alr [...]

    4. Brownie (the little girl) and Pearl (her cat) have a late night snack and then go to bed.The Brownie & Pearl series in which the odd idiomatic phrases "get dolled up," "go for a spin," "grab a bite," "hit the hay," "make good," "see the sights," "step out," and "take a dip" are illustrated and explored is extremely cute and a hit with toddler girls. However, my husband and I find the lack of parental supervision is somewhat disturbing.

    5. My daughter has all of the Brownie and Pearl books. Although she is almost 10 now and has graduated to reading long novels, she still loves the beautiful pictures and sweet stories of the Brownie and Pearl series. We had many a wonderful story time before bed reading them and they are a treasured collection.

    6. My 2 year old really likes the Brownie and Pearl books. The language is pretty simple (I think they're really great for beginning readers in that way). This installment is a nice little bed time read. It's got cute illustrations. And I like that the little girl and her cat always do stuff together.

    7. A girl named Brownie eats four chocolate chip cookies before she goes to bed. That doesn’t bother me. What bothers me is that she gives a cookie to her pet cat, Pearl. What a total waste of a cookie.

    8. I like this series written in simple form because it uses figurative language like "Hit the Hay", "Grab a Bite", "Take a Dip", "Get Dolled Up". Great use of language to give exposure to children of phrases adults some times say.

    9. Here's a cute little book about my favorite time of day--when it's time to go to sleep. I enjoyed the mutually happy relationship between the girl and her cat.

    10. Mommy review:We both really like this series about a girl and her cat. What is a bed ball?Alice likes to count the cookies.

    11. William loved this book. Surprised I somehow forgot to add it. Wondering if its an error and now I have a duplicate.

    12. Cute, but, like all those in the series, not much of a plot. But bright pictures and familiar themes make this a good toddler series.
