    1. If you want to paint thangkas or know how to paint them, this is the book you want. You will read it multiple times, makes notes on it, and copy examples of drawings out of it. It tells you everything you could possibly want to know about how to paint thangkas, even giving examples of modern equivalents you can use if you can't find the original materials (like ox hide glue) or don't want to work in pigments yet.My only recommendation besides buying this book immediately is to not buy it on eBay [...]

    2. I ended up with this book after a client brought it to me to use for reference on a tattoo. In the 20+ years since, I have used this book as reference countless times. It is full of gorgeous artwork, both full-color images of paintings by monks, as well as line reference of all the major elements that are traditionally used in a tibetan thangka painting. Also, if you are wanting a guide for creating traditional thangka paintings yourself, it is full of that information as well.
