May 15th, 2012Nail ArtHi Everyone!
It’s been raining and pouring the last few days – we’ve even seen some hail stones!
I was feeling something to cheer up the horrible grey day – so I grabbed my The Make Up Store Strazz crystal stones in Aquamarine for a little sparkle.

Natural light – outdoors
- Models Own: 3-in-1 base coat, top coat and gloss
- Illamasqua: Caress
- Rimmel: Grey Matter
- The Make Up Store Strazz Crystal Stones: Aquamarine
- Seche Vite Top Coat

Natural light- indoors
I started with a 2 coats of Illamasqua Caress on the ring finger and went on to paint the other remaining nails in 2 coats of Rimmel Grey Matter. I then used a coat of Seche Vite as a base for the gems on the ring finger and used my dotting tool dipped in Seche Vite and carefully placed the gems on one by one. I then finished off with generous helping of Seche Vite.
Until next time, have fun!

Don’t get my wrong, I love my Konad plates, but sadly there are those patterns/designs that you just can’t get -unless you take a trip over to eBay and pick up some faux-nad plates. I picked up 3 of these plates as they were cheap. Looksie- HELLO KITTY! and I also couldn’t resist the geeky transformers design.

These plates were cheap – but you can also tell in the design. They are thin so it makes the edges quite sharp. They are covered in a blue film to keep them scratch-free just like the bundle monster plates.
So far I’ve tried two different designs, for the first one I used Butter LONDON: All Hail The Queen as a base and used the polka dot design on QA12 as a guide (as the dots transfer quite small) then went over them with my dotting tool. I then used the larger bow all over on my ring finger.

On the second design I used OPI: Alpine Snow for a french tip and used the Hello Kitty face from the other plate, filling in the bow and nose with a red and yellow polish – simple and easy!

These practice runs as the plates were good fun, I look forward to trying different designs and combinations!Until next time, have fun!

I’m so sorry for being so quiet, Ash has been ill with cat flu so I’ve been spending lots of time with him and he likes to play/lick/chew my fingers at the moment so applying polish isn’t so easy!
I picked up the two glitter polishes from the Model’s Own Hed Kandi Collection- I mean how can I say no to multicoloured Ibiza themed glitter?!

Natural light

Artificial light
Here I’ve used about 4-5 coats, normally I prefer to have opaque glitter nail but this polish is far too sparse for an opaque effect without overloading with polish!! It Would look great layered.
One thing I have noticed is the smell – both the Model’s Own Hed Kandi glitters have a strong chemical smell (more than the usual polish anyway!)

Also, a new post wouldn’t be complete without a picture of Ash
I have far too much polish/makeup to swatch and show you, better get my act together!
Until next time, have fun, meow!

April 5th, 2012NOTDHi Everyone!

Since I read the books of The Hunger Games I because a little obsessed, then I saw the trailer for the film and became a lot obsessed! I’ve seen it twice in the cinema now and doing my best to wait for the supposed August release date of the Blu-ray (although I’m not sure I’ll last that long! I might just end up seeing it in the cinema again).
After the initial OMG!! at the mention of a China Glaze collection for the movie I managed to stay very well reserved and only so far have picked up Electrify, the red and golden glitter.

The polish really looks mesmerizing on the nails, just like a flame- perfect for the girl on fire!

Until next time, may the odds be ever in your favour!

March 31st, 2012NOTDHi Everyone
It’s funny, I’m the biggest fan of holos, duochromes and glitters but there is just something about Chanel Black Pearl that makes it my favourite. Maybe its the reference to one of my favourite Johnny Depp-featuring pirate films or the fact it is Chanel and makes it feel like a little luxury on my nails. It’s not pink or girly, more sophisticated and stylish.
That was until now.
The very lovely Bryony over at Simply Occasions sent me a Layla polish in Flash Black to try out and review.

Artificial light
Flash Black is dark grey / black and has the most fantastic holographic effect.

Natural light
Application:
This polish came with a nail buffer to prepare a smooth surface before applying. I didn’t find any problems applying it evenly. As advised I applied a coat of top coat over a couple of coats and underneath the final layer of Layla Flash Black to help with the wear.Finish:
A-mazing holographic. I’ve been disappointed by holos before (new formula Nfu Oh Silver I’m looking at you!) but this polish aims to please. Even in low light the holographic effect is obvious and I found myself looking at my nails all the time!Overall:
This is the first Layla polish I’ve tried and it is a real stunner. Whether it was the trick with the top coat or the polish itself that helped this holographic polish last longer than the rest I’m not 100% sure, but I’ll be sure to be wearing this often. Thanks again Bryony for introducing me to such a great polish!- Packaging: 4/5
- Formula: 4/5
- Staying power: 4/5
- Value for money: 4/5
- Repurchase: Yes

You can also purchase Layla polishes at Simply Occasions.
Until next time, have fun
